Slacker

Ok I really need to get in the hang of updating this blog. I had such good intentions when I started, but as you can see I have not delivered. Well, a lot has changed since I last wrote. Alexis is now 3 months old. I can hardly believe it. I feel like we just brought her home! Alexis started daycare on June 14, 2010 and so far things are going well. We really like the center we chose and know that Alexis will too. One thing that we are hoping she will get better at is taking naps in her crib. She is a WONDERFUL sleeper at night...typically going to bed between 7-8am and getting up between 6:30-7am or even later without getting up. I have to say that one of my favorite things in the world is going into her room in the morning. After greeting her with a "Good Morning Alexis" she gets the biggest smile on her face and starts giggling. It is quite possibly the cutest thing in the world. Since our last set of visitors Alexis also got to meet her great grandmother who visited at the end of May. Next on the agenda is Aunt Ashley and Eva! We just had Lexi's 3 month pictures taken and she was a doll! I am going to make a conscious effort to update this blog on a regular basis...its too hard and would be way to long to write about everything from the last couple months in one entry. Bear with me as I enter the blogging world.

Visitors

Ok there is so much to tell here that I am just going to have to sum it up...Alexis just completed her first round of out of state visitors...

My parents came out at the end of March and left on Easter. Ashley came out mid week that week as well. We had a great time. My mom squealed with excitement when she saw Alexis at the airport and she barely put her down during the whole trip. Alexis enjoyed reading books with grandma and hanging out (she went to the dog park one day and then met daddy for lunch at work). Grandpa is also smitten with her, which was fun to see. Aunt Ashley adores her and is looking forward to coming back at the end of June with Eva! The worst part was seeing my mom crying when she had to leave...for now we will have to get by with skype, but we are hoping they come back in August. But, Alexis will be spending her FIRST Christmas in Pittsburgh so she will spend lots of time with her then!

Bri's parents just left on Sunday. Alexis also had a lot of fun with them visiting the Usinger's sausage shop, the cheese shop, the National Mustard Museum, and the Sprecher brewery. Bri's dad and mom helped us with a lot of projects around the house that we haven't been able to get to in a while. We are hoping to head out to NY next year to visit and so Lexi can meet her cousins.

Lexi also got to meet Sarah and Mike, friends of ours, that moved to Wisconsin Rapids. She has met most of the gang in Madison and is looking forward to seeing them all again!

Alexis is wonderful in the car and very well behaved while running errands or eating at a restaurant. So far she has just come everywhere with us and I have no anxiety about it since she is such a good baby.

Thank you to all of our visitors for helping- we appreciated everything.

Hip Appointment

Today Alexis had her followup ultrasound and appointment for her hip. Because she was born breech her right hip is not completely formed around the ball as it should be. For the last two weeks she has had to wear a hip brace to help stabilize and get it to form properly. She doesn't seem to mind it, although it is a bit of a pain for her parents. She will have to wear it for four more weeks. Her ultrasound today showed some improvement and the doctor was pleased. We go for a brace check in 2 weeks and then another ultrasound in 4. I am counting down the days until she gets to take this thing off.

Where does the time go?

Okay so I really need to get better with this blogging thing, but it is so hard to find time as many of you can imagine. So, we will give you the update and get back on a better schedule. The last seven weeks have just flown by. I am back to work now part time as of last week and I have two and a half weeks left before I return to full time. I was expecting it to be a rough transition, but honestly I feel like I never left. Alexis doesn't start daycare until the middle of June so Brian and I have had to work out schedules with work. Alexis is doing well, although she does seem to be having some issues with gas and constipation. We recently changed her formula and things seem to have improved thus far. Lexi slept from 8:45 pm to 4am so we were super excited about that. She doesn't nap for long during the day, but she will sleep if she is in her swing or we are running errands. She definitely knows the difference between her days and nights! (but it does make it hard to get anything done during the day). She is starting to smile a lot and she really enjoys tummy time. She also loves bathtime!

One Week Home

Well it has been one week since we left the hospital and boy what a week it was. It was both intimidating and exciting to leave the hospital. I was anxious to get home, but liked the safety and guidance that we received at the hospital. The first challenge we faced this week was how our four animals were going to take to Alexis. The cats love her nursery as there are new places to hide and sleep. The dogs have been wonderful with her. They are curious, but very appropriate and most of the time just leave her alone. We had some feeding challenges this week which caused all of us to become frustrated. I think that we have figured out a better plan for all of us and we are all much happier. Alexis is still under her birthweight, but is well on her way back. We had great weather this week and Alexis was able to make it out for several appointments with the lactation consultant, to the dog park, the mall, and out to eat. What a busy week. She is such a joy. I love just looking at her! She makes the funniest faces and noises. I couldn't be happier. Brian was able to stay home with us this week which was also a lot of fun. Because of my C section I was not able to drive or lift anything heavier than Alexis. Thank goodness those restrictions end this weekend. I am recovering nicely however and have not had any problems since coming home. We received many well wishes and congratulations this week and appreciate all of them even if we haven't gotten to talk to all of you. The last week was a whirlwind and I am looking forward to another week with my sweet baby. We have a busy week planned for next week with lots of appointments for mom and baby as well as Daddy's birthday and then Grandma and Grandpa Weatherby are coming on Saturday! Well its time for another feeding...
